01.03 Materials and Free Choice

My results after taking the "What Kind of Reader Are You?" quiz was that I am a Fiction and Drama type of reader.

As for Fiction, I do believe that to be true because if I recall all of the past books that I have read (not by choice lol) they are mainly fiction. Moreover, I have always exhibited a liking to fiction in general. From my favorite fictional movies, music, cartoons like "Star vs. the Forces of Evil", "Harry Potter", to the anime categories that mainly subscribe to, it's no surprise that I would find a liking to the books. Fiction also relates to Fantasy which is down the alley of Harry Potter. As well as Mystery which brings me back to my favorite Tv-Series "Pretty Little Liars". Fiction is broad and so am I as till this day I cannot choose one favorite thing whether the category is colors or food.

Not that kind of drama lol. I do like a good drama here and there and live for what the kids say these days "The Tea" however, I am not sure if it properly suits me. In the past, I read Thirteen Reasons Why which, seemed to be a dramatic novel and I loved it. As a result, I retook the quiz and got as another type of reader that I am. Which brings me back to the time I got Hufflepuff as my Hogwarts House and retook it to see what it would take for me to land in Gryffindor.

Hufflepuff it is! I mean Drama. The quiz provided me with the same result. This time around I am more in "agreeance" with it. "You like to be serious when you read," it said. "Sitting on the edge of your seat shedding a tear or two for your favorite characters is not out of the question," it said. And I agree, lol. My initial thought of Drama is not at all what the descriptions of it state, and after reading the descriptions of it it does suit me.

"What is the last thing you read that you enjoyed and why?"

The last thing I read was Sula by Toni Morrison and contradictory to what the question asked I did not enjoy it. I [insert a better word than enjoyed] it. The book was filled with mystery, drama, deception, action, and a bunch of other amazing adjectives. When you think that it is finally calming down someone catches on fire and another jumps out of a window from a two-story house to help, despite being disabled. Or a little game of climbing a tree leads to a boy getting thrown into a river and drowning. The book was thought-provoking with deep themes and symbolisms. It wasn't tedious as to describe every detail of the setting of the story as Golding did in Lord of the Flies, but the pacing was spot-on amazing. I was able to relate to the characters, see myself in the story, and relate the story to my life. I'm sure I can go on and on with this, but, these are some of the reasons that I enjoyed Sula.
